Julian Milner Managing Director
After graduating from the London School of Economics in 1983, amateur chef Julian spent his twenties working in the restaurant industry. He has over 20 years' experience in financial services, including three years as a founding partner of Axiom Financial Management. A keen fan of brand Triumph with a "Steve McQueen" style of motorbike and a "Ghandi-esk" non violent, direct action style of management, Julian founded Sigma Asset Management in 1997.
Full Bio
Since entering the financial services in 1991, Julian's initial training was as a tied agent with Providence Capitol. He soon realised the restrictions of being tied and became an independent financial adviser in 1995 as a partner in Axiom Financial Management. After an amicable split, he went out on his own in 1997 as Sigma Asset Management and has allowed the company to develop organically ever since.
He is firm believer in risk and goal based financial planning believing that the Sigma IFAs can add true value to their clients by helping them define, realise and manage their objectives. This is fully compatible with the introduction of the Retail Distribution Review in 2013 and requires the focus of planning to be on service, rather than the traditional transactional offering which advisers have been plugging for decades.
Although a general practitioner, his main focus with clients is to encourage them to take an overall view of their lifetime financial plan and relationship with money, and with the help of sophisticated lifetime cash-flow modelling tools, to try to put them in a position where they can achieve their financial goals without running out of money during their lifetime. Julian believes that this non-traditional approach sets Sigma apart from the vast majority of financial planning practices and will be the key to the company's continued future success.
